Megan Anderson Yarborough

Gordon Hunter - Director of Development

Megan Anderson Yarborough became a Cavalier in 2001. She was a student at Calvary for five years before graduating in 2006. The people at Calvary became a family to her. Megan chose Calvary because of that family atmosphere and because she wanted to join one of the best cheer programs in the state. Danny and Stephanie Britt, Mr. Billy Griffin, The Fields Family, and Judy Blackston all helped influenced Megan to become a Cavalier.

During her time at Calvary, Megan participated in yearbook staff, taught tumbling classes after school, was a cheerleader, and built friendships that still remain strong to this day. “We all have our favorite memories of this place,” Megan said. “Mine were Friday night football games and pep rallies.”

While the list of relationships Megan formed on campus is long, the relationship with the Lord that she built on campus is one that has impacted her life the greatest. Dr. James Taylor was one of the influencers during her time at Calvary. “When he became Principal, he wrote a handwritten note addressed to me letting me know I was being prayed for,” Megan recalled. She received these several times throughout her time at Calvary. Megan was so moved by the impact the letters had on her that she now sends handwritten letters to her Savannah Sharks cheerleaders.

After graduating from Calvary, Megan went to Armstrong Atlantic University and pursued a degree in Early Childhood Education, graduating in 2011. In 2015 Megan married Mr. Christopher Yarborough Jr., and Coach Derwood Poole, Megan’s middle school Bible teacher, presided over the ceremony. Chris and Megan have a son, Cy, who is 19 months old, and also a baby due to join the family in February 2019.

Megan’s passion for cheering continued after college. She has a long coaching history and experience in the industry. She started her own business in 2012. Currently, she is the owner/coach of Savannah Sharks and has over 300 athletes in her program. Megan has been amazed by the amount of support she's received from the Calvary family. Her second location will open later this month in Richmond Hill.

The Savannah Sharks are a business partner of Calvary, and Megan is proud to support her school. When asked what advice she would give to current students, Megan said, “enjoy every moment of your time at Calvary. This place is special and time flies” She went on to say “Calvary provides a rare experience that you don’t see at other schools; you truly become a family here.”

Megan has big aspirations and has worked hard to achieve her success. We are proud to have Megan in the Calvary Family.
