Mission & Vision

Our Mission

Calvary Day School offers a Christ-centered educational experience through the development of the total student - spiritually, academically, socially, and physically.
Our key verse at Calvary Day School is Luke 2:52, which states: “So Jesus grew both in height and in wisdom, and he was loved by God and by all who knew him.” On the surface, this is a nice Bible verse coined at numerous Christian schools across North America. However, for the Administration and educators of Calvary, this verse is a presentation of the guiding force behind everything we do. This verse encompasses the four components of a truly Christian philosophy of education: physical growth, intellectual growth, spiritual growth, and social/interpersonal growth. Many schools call themselves “Christian” simply because they offer a class in Bible at some point in their curriculum. I would assert that this course offering alone does not form the basis for a Christian philosophy of education. Instead, a truly Christian philosophy of education is achieved when biblical truth forms the basis for everything that is taught.

Our Vision Statement

Calvary Day School will cultivate in our students a lifelong passion to learn, lead, and serve through Christ-centered college-preparatory educational excellence.

From the Head of School

As a parent of current Cavaliers, I think about what I look for in my children’s education: a Christ-centered, engaging learning environment and strong, relational mentors.

To know Calvary is delivering that mission for hundreds within the Savannah community, including my own family, solidifies our purpose. As the largest Christian school and premier educational leader in Savannah, our mission focus is vital. We offer a Christ-centered educational experience for children from six weeks to twelfth grade through the development of the total student - spiritually, academically, socially, and physically daily. Like Christ, we seek to grow in wisdom (Luke 2:52) as we partner with families daily.

We deliver exceptional academic offerings while fostering relationships in small groups, chapel, small classes, student services, and grade level academics. Calvary uses co-curricular programming to teach life and leadership skills in athletics, fine arts, and the myriad of clubs and
activities offered. Through our robust college counseling program, we provide a variety of services allowing for individualized higher education planning. Mentorship and intentional counseling prepares our students to be a light on a hill on college campuses and beyond. Our highly skilled faculty and staff love the Lord, love our students, and are passionate about their calling.

They are the heartbeats of our school. Their experience and pedagogical expertise allow Calvary to create an educational atmosphere that thrives on relationships amid discovery.

Calvary is better experienced than explained. Becoming a part of Cav Nation has been of great value for my family, and one of the best decisions our family has made. I invite you to come and experience the excellence at Calvary Day School.

A Sound Christian Philosophy

Having a sound Christian philosophy of education cannot be emphasized enough in the Christian school setting. Biblical truth must provide more than theoretical guidance and academic generalization. Educational theory and practice must be completely enmeshed with a Christocentric worldview. This distinct worldview becomes the integrating factor around which all subject matter is correlated and arranged, and it provides the criterion by which all other subject matter is judged. Biblical truth becomes the center of all that we do as a school ministry.
