Merry Christmas from the Martin's

Cory Martin
Each year it seems to become more and more hectic prior to Christmas actually arriving. It can be so easy to get wrapped up in frantically trying to find the “perfect” gift, decide on the “perfect” dinner menu, or get the house ready for all the family visitors. It all happens so quickly, and we each can forget to appreciate the time we get to rest, as well as spend time with our families and friends.

It is truly amazing to me how much your perspective on Christmas, and the holiday season in general, changes throughout your life. However, now that I am a parent, it is even more exciting to think about waking up Christmas morning and sharing that time with my family and seeing the excitement on my daughters face. It has now become more about giving, but even that can take precedence over what really matters if we aren’t careful. In this time it is so important to find balance, and that can only be found when our hearts are in the right place.

Last week our administrative team was gathering to pray, as we do each week, over our staff and students by name. It was during those moments of prayer and reflection that God began to align my heart for Christmas. Corporate prayer is something that can often realign us and unite us as we hear the hearts of others. I am so thankful to be a part of the Calvary family. I also hope that each of our students and their families have a restful break and get to enjoy some great time with family and friends. Personally, I am looking forward to watching some classic Christmas movies with my family, and to be honest, hopefully watching the Dawgs get a win on New Years.

So from Cory, Katie, and Carter Anne Martin, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
