Our Scores Tell a Bright Story

Written By: Dr. James Taylor
Every five years a new and very specific academic story is told about Calvary Day School. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) AdvancED team spends three days on campus evaluating our students and staff in all areas of academic life. In the years leading up to this visit, our teachers and administrators invest thousands of work hours, produce tens of thousands of pages of documentation, create a detailed website portal with all of this information, and craft a very detailed long-range plan for continued excellence.

We are excited to tell you that the results are in, and Calvary Day School has scored in the highest possible range--Global Accreditation! This is true of less than 10% of all private schools in America. Of the schools that scored in the top range of Global Accreditation, the average Index of Education Quality (IEQ) score ranged from 278.34-283.33. However, Calvary Day School’s IEQ score was a 338! This is the highest score our evaluator has assigned in seven years. This is truly amazing and a tribute to the hard work of our teachers and students. This also testifies to the leadership at Calvary with much deserved praise going to the remarkably talented Mrs. Stacey Mell, Director of Guidance and the senior leader who directs the SACS AdvancED accreditation process. Our high score means that not only has our school scored in the top range of Global Accreditation, our school has scored more than 50 points higher than the normal range of Globally Accredited schools! This is a powerful story about the academic excellence and positive school culture present at Calvary.

The evaluators spoke with glowing terms about our students, teaching staff, and administrative team. Their biggest compliment came regarding our school culture, “The school culture of Calvary is unique. You eat, live and breathe your mission statement of Faith, Academics, Excellence. Your school culture is a defining strength and something that separates you from all other schools.” We are glad to have the affirmation and validation of the great things taking place at Calvary Day School. Congratulations to our staff, students, and parents for making Calvary such a truly unique and amazing school. You are what makes Calvary so special.

James Taylor is the Head of School at Calvary Day School. Taylor’s greatest joy is to see Christ’s truth take root in the lives of young people. He is amazed to watch their worldviews become deliberately and intricately intertwined with the creator of the universe. Dr. Taylor challenges his students to live deliberately in the pattern of 1 Timothy 4:12, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.”
