New Teacher Makes A Big Change At Calvary

Briana Turner
Mrs. Hunt graduated from Georgia College and State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and Criminal Justice. She has two kids, Parker and Millie, and her husband, Cameron, works at The Habersham School. Sandy is excited to be the director of Calvary's first STEM Program which will first be implemented in the middle school. Her goal for the STEM Program is to make it different from other STEM programs that exist in our area. She says, “It will be different not just in what we are doing or how we are doing it, but in why. I want the Calvary STEM program to challenge our students to innovatively solve real-world problems so that we may better serve and glorify the Lord.” STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math and is an open-styled curriculum that focuses on math and science but is also integrated into other subjects, like English, history, and art. The program allows students more flexibility and independence in the way they are taught and how they produce work. It involves a lot of collaborative brainstorming, critical thinking, and projects. She hopes to feed it into the lower school and high school in the near future as the program progresses. In all her classes, she prioritizes an integration of a biblical foundation in her teaching. Sandy is enthusiastic about the future of Calvary and the contribution she is going to make.
