Merry Christmas from the Martins

Cory Martin
It all happens so quickly, and we often fall right into the same lie that permeates our culture that if we want joy this Christmas, we just need to buy more, have more, or fix the perfect meal. On their own, all of these things are not bad, but there will be so many things vying for attention this season, and we cannot afford to miss out on the fact that this time is ultimately about the fact that Christ has come and is the only thing that can bring us true joy and fulfillment. So as we go through the next few days may we all realize that in Christ we have hope, and that can never be taken away regardless of our circumstances.

With that said, it is truly amazing to me how much your perspective on Christmas, and the holiday season in general, changes throughout your life. Now that I am a parent, it is even more exciting to think about waking up Christmas morning and sharing that time with my family and seeing the excitement on my daughter’s face. With baby number two due in March, I will certainly be doing my best to soak in every moment over the next two weeks as we experience our last Christmas as a family of three. We are so blessed and are excited about what is ahead for our family in 2019.

I am thankful to be a part of the Calvary family, and I hope that each of our students and their families have a restful break and get to enjoy some great time with family and friends. Personally, I am looking forward to watching some classic Christmas movies with my family, and to be honest, hopefully watching the Dawgs get a win in the Sugar Bowl.

So from Cory, Katie, and Carter Anne Martin, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
