Fourth Grade STEM

Joseph Almeida
Our STEM coordinator, Mrs. Hunt, discussed the importance of the 4 C's with the students. Collaboration, creativity, communication, and critical thinking were evident throughout the lesson. Students were shown pictures of famous ferris wheels from around the world, like the London Eye.  Students were put in groups of four, given materials, and then challenged to "make your own London Eye." A fun buzz of collaboration began as students shared their creative ideas and began putting the materials together. I heard one student say "Oh, I like your idea, and we could also do this to make the base stronger" to another student. It was a joy to watch them truly listen to each other and work as a team to achieve a common goal.
