We are a community of learners and leaders where teaching and learning are stimulating, interesting, and Christ-centered. Students, staff, and parents are supportive of one another and work cooperatively to reach ever higher academic, social, emotional, and spiritual competencies. Differences are accepted and respected by students, staff, and parents. We follow many pathways to learning while sharing goals that unite us, a common core of knowledge, and a belief in biblical truths.
It is our desire to learn more about you and your family and how we may best serve your child. We seek to develop each student: academically, athletically, socially and most of all, spiritually. In turn, we are seeking students who want to integrate and fully invest in the school with their time and talent to obtain the most out of their experience here at Calvary Day School.
Our key verse at Calvary Day School is Luke 2:52, which states: “So Jesus grew both in height and in wisdom, and he was loved by God and by all who knew him.” For the Administration and educators of Calvary, this verse is a presentation of the guiding force behind everything we do. This verse encompasses the four components of a truly Christian philosophy of education: physical growth, intellectual growth, spiritual growth, and social/interpersonal growth.
At Calvary Day School, we are called to a higher mission. We infuse faith into our classrooms, clubs, gymnasiums, playing fields, etc.; in essence, into whatever is being done or taught. At Calvary we also pursue excellence in whatever we do. As a result of this internal pursuit of excellence, Calvary was recognized as the first charter member of the National Elementary Honor Society, and our students are accepted each year into some of the finest colleges and universities in the United States, with over half of these students typically receiving academic scholarships.
Since Calvary Day School opened its doors in 1961, it has been blessed with enormous support from those who seek to further the school’s mission of providing an academically challenging education in a uniquely Christian environment. Exceptional teachers, state-of-the-art facilities, and superior athletic venues are all possible because of the generous support of the Calvary family.
this saying kept hitting me. I watched, “Just a Kid from Calvary, LSU pitcher #55 Hunter Newman close out the SEC Championship vs. Arkansas on national TV. There was “Just a Kid from Calvary, being mobbed by his teammates in Hoover, Alabama. Hunter wears #55 in memory of a classmate Dustin Dauphinee, who lost his life the Spring of his Jr. year in a car accident. From a small corner in Southeast, Georgia greatness is pouring out. I have watched a former Cavalier swimmer, Patricia Forrester graduate from the University of Tennessee and what is the first thing she does, go on a grueling mission trip with Athletes in Action spreading God’s word. As we were preparing for our Spring Football scrimmage I walked into Coach Strouds office and there sat AJ Keene (DB, Gardner Webb University), Andre Wilson (DL, Alabama State) and Milan Richard (TE, Clemson-National Champion) all eating Calvary lunch talking about life with our coaches. They all are, “Just Kids from Calvary doing great things in college. They were missing some of their counterparts who already had to be back at school Tyrone Riley (DE, NC State) and Robert Heyward (LB, Townson St) who hadn't got home yet, but they knew when he was coming in. Recent Prairie View A&M graduate and “Just another Kid from Calvary” Alexus Parker was just was voted most outstanding female athlete and female basketball player of the year to close out her collegiate career. Furman graduate and female Basketball player Kelsey Ellis is completing her Masters in English in Ireland. Recent Calvary graduate, Chris Bashlor just completed his Freshmen year at Lipscomb and will be back home this summer playing for the Coastal Plain League and probably the most popular Collegiate Wooden bat team in America, you guessed it, the Savannah Bananas. Reagan Glisson was an early enrollee at the University of Georgia, to get a head start on her College Soccer Career and scored multiple goals and started basically as a High school senior, she walked with her class last Sunday at graduation. This school had another blessed year in athletics, Back to Back State Champions in volleyball, Region Champions and Elite 8 in Football, Region Tournament Champions in Softball, individuals going to state in multiple sports, Girls Soccer in the Elite 8, Boys Soccer hosted their first ever Home playoff game. Several Student-athletes were recognized as Players of the year in their sport. My point being, they are all “Just a Kid from Calvary, and their story begins here!” There is something in the water, greatness is pouring out of Calvary.
