Roll Tide! Roll Tide! Roll Tide!... Hard Words for this Georgia Girl!

My three day visit at UA provided me with a tremendous amount of new information. The mid range 50% for SAT is 24-27. UA offers incredible scholarships for students who are National Merit Finalists (see below for other merit scholarship options). Alabama has a top rated business school offering a variety of majors in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business, Management, Marketing, Management Information Systems, and Operations Management. The School of Business is open to students who complete the required 60 hours of core and earn a minimum 2.5 GPA. The School of Nursing is an excellent program of study at UA and admits about 240 students a year.  A freshman who is a declared nursing major will be placed in the lower level nursing courses and will work to complete the 60 required core hours. An assessment and a 2.5 GPA are required for continued acceptance in the program. The nursing program is a required 9 semester program. The program offers practice situations with multiple nursing simulation mannequins. These mannequins can simulate a real birth that can be healthy or with problems and variety of other learning situations.

Alabama has a college that is called the New College. This is for students who want to major in a field that Alabama may not have a degree in. The students with their mentor advisor will create an academic path that will foster the growth and development of the student’s career interest. The student would graduate with a major in Interdisciplinary studies--fill in the blank with your desired area of study.

University of Alabama also offers has a College of Human Environmental Sciences. The majors housed in this college are Addiction and Recovery, Apparel Design, Athletic Training, Consumer Affairs, Early Childhood Education, Fashion Retailing, Family Financial Planning and Counseling, Food and Nutrition, Hospitality Management, Human Development of Family Studies, Interior Design, and Public Health. That is a list of so many possibilities. This was a wonderful visit to a school that has a lot to offer.  Outside of Alabama, Georgia sends the most students to UA. I encourage you to give them a look...you just might like what you see...I know I did.
