God's Notebook

Jackie Hamilton
I have asked some of my players what they thought about the notebook, if they were motivated by it, and if they tried any of the suggestions that I presented to them. I have heard mixed responses. Some players take  this information to heart while other times I get a response such as “ I didn’t even read it” or “I’ll look at it later.” I get aggravated when I hear this because of all the time that I have put into this notebook to make them better basketball players.

This got me thinking about how God feels about us when we take his Notebook of Champions,
The Bible, for granted. He has given us an outline of how to live our life, and sometimes we don’t even read it. I know that sometimes I could do better and be more consistent about my Bible reading. II Timothy 3:16-17 says “All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness so that a man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” This Bible verse is in the present tense. Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable, not was. God’s word is alive today. In this season of March Madness, it is truly madness not to read the message our Creator and Lord has shared with us.

He lives his life by John 14:1-3, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” Hamilton enjoys being with his family and friends, sports, the competition that comes with playing the game, and the successes of his students.
