Impacting the Community

The Chick-fil-A Leader Academy members have been diligently working this year on their service and leadership skills. Each year, the students are tasked with creating, organizing, and executing a service project to impact the community. This year, members voted to partner with Hosana Helpers, a nonprofit organization that provides meals and Bible lessons every Sunday in Forsyth Park. In addition to Bible lessons, Hosana Helpers provides uniforms and school supplies for 100 children in need.

Students volunteered to feed, provide a Bible lesson, and provide arts and crafts for the local children on December 9. In preparation for the event, students fundraised by having an ugly sweater dress down day, no-shave November, and crazy sock days. It has been amazing to watch God work through our members. The members organized into four groups, shopped, and prepped the arts and crafts bags.

On the day of service, I prayed that the rain would hold off, but it poured. It was cold and rainy, and to top it off, it was windy! I was worried that students would stay home due to the weather. Out of the 30 members, 27 showed up! I was so thankful and proud of our students. The members were able to serve two families as well as send home food and Christmas decor. Even though we did not have the number of children we prepared for, we were able to make an impact in two families’ lives. God showed me through the dedication of our students what young leaders in Christ should be like.

“Let no man despise thy youth, but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in manner of living, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12.
