The Admissions office is in full swing as I am meeting with new families, scheduling private tours as well as hosting Admission Open House events for prospective students that want to learn more about Calvary Day School. It never ceases to amaze me the questions that children have, especially the little ones. One recent family of a rising PK4 asked if the students would talk to him. I think his fears quickly faded away when during our tour, the students in Mrs. Jones PK4 class welcomed the family with smiles, and our students wanted the little boy to come and participate in the learning activity for the day. That’s the environment here at Calvary. Welcoming. Friendly. Interactive. And isn’t that what you would want for your child? Even my older prospective students that want to make the transition from one school to Calvary initially have reservations because they are “new.” So how do we help take away those stressors for middle school and high school students? I suggest to the families to schedule shadowing. It’s a great way to test drive Calvary and experience a day that is full of opportunities to get involved in areas of your child’s interest such as clubs/organizations, sports, fine arts, etc. I’m a firm believer if your child gets involved with an activity, he/she will be happy and successful. Photo attached is a field trip that Spanish IV went on, my favorite senior is on the far right! The students learned how to Salsa dance at Salon de Baile, dined at Los Tacos for a cultural experience communicating only in Spanish, and wrapped up the day at Panderia bakery! What a great way to have students learn.
