Chapel

Calvary Day School offers weekly chapel services to encourage a daily relationship with Christ and to draw students closer to the heart of God. Each chapel service is created to awaken students through lively worship music, to focus students through a time of prayer and thanksgiving, and to fill students through relevant messages founded on the Word of Christ.

In the Lower School, chapel differs by age group to accommodate the wide range of learning levels. In Pre-K and kindergarten, Calvary staff members teach Bible lessons and lead the students in fun praise and worship songs. Weekly Bible classes and the chapel service are mainstays of grades 1-5 that encourage a solid biblical foundation. Local Youth Pastors and Music Ministers are welcomed guests who bless these students with engaging, timely messages.

In the Upper School (grades 6-12), chapel speakers are specifically chosen to put students in contact with churches, missionaries, adults, and local organizations that are living out the Great Commission in the world around them. The chapel worship band is organized and led by students. With the help of an advisor, these students navigate the creatively challenging opportunity to bring their peers to the feet of Jesus. Through skits, music, and prayer, these students embody Christian discipleship and challenge their friends to do the same. Students also give testimony to the work God is doing through their lives in the halls of Calvary and in the world around them.

An offering is taken up each week to supplement work that Calvary is doing in the community, to assist a Calvary family in need, or to support organizations around the world. Chapels help sustain the practice of true religion described in James 1:27, where serving is an act of worship.

Weekly chapels build Calvary’s distinctly Christian and uniquely personal atmosphere through the coming together of students, faculty, staff, and Administration as a body of believers. Through meeting, worshiping, and growing together, each member of the Calvary family learns what it means to be part of a true family of Christ.
