Bryce Bielec

Bryce Bielec received a B.M.E. from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. He attends Coastal Bible Fellowship in Rincon, where he co-leads the youth group. Bielec lives by Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight.” Bielec is excited to be part of the Calvary family and to share his passion for the Lord and for music. Bielec enjoys playing in the snow, throwing the frisbee, and playing the trombone.

Cheryl Bland

Cheryl Bland received her B.S. in early elementary education from Armstrong Atlantic State University. Bland attends Calvary Baptist Temple, and her favorite verse is Psalm 37:4, “Delight yourself in the ways of the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” She enjoys spending time with her husband and children and can be found biking, gardening, scrapbooking, and walking the beach.

Melissa Bond

Melissa Bond received her A.A. in general studies and her B.S. in education with a minor in speech correction from Armstrong Atlantic State University. Bond attends Immanuel Baptist Church, and her favorite verse is 2 Timothy 1:9, “For God hath not given us the Spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” She enjoys watching the students grow; their smiles are her fuel for each day.

Lacey (Toole) Bragg

Lacey (Toole) Bragg earned her B.S. in art education from Armstrong Atlantic State University. She attends Jasper Springs Baptist Church in Garden City, and her favorite verse is Psalm 118:24, “This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Bragg and her husband Robert recently renovated a house. When not at school, she enjoys crafting, working out, and caring for animals.

Patty Cannady

Patty Cannady holds a B.S. in elementary education from Armstrong Atlantic State University. She is a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, and her favorite verse is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” She loves beachcombing, walking, biking, and spending time with her family. Cannady began teaching kindergarten at CDS in 1986.

HCarswell

Heather Carswell

Heather Carswell graduated with a B.S. in elementary education from Mount St. Mary’s College and went on to get her master’s degree in the education of the hearing impaired from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. She has taught Pre-K through college level classes over the last 24 years in regular education, special education and Montessori settings. Carswell is blessed to be the mother of four children (Cole, Cody, Brianna and Madi Grace), a foster mom (Ruben), and the wife of Michael Carswell. She enjoys spending time with her family, anything outdoors, sports, the arts and reading.

CCarver

Chad Carver

Chad Carver received his BA from Brewton-Parker University in general studies. Carver has been coaching and teaching in the Savannah area for over 15 years. He attended Calvary Day School from 1st to 5th grade and graduated from Groves High School in 1990. He attended Brewton-Parker on a basketball scholarship from 1991 to 1995. While at Brewton-Parker he helped start their first fastpitch women’s softball team. He lives by the lyrics of one of his favorite gospel songs by the Crabb Family, “He never promised that the cross would not get heavy or the hill would not be hard to climb. He never offered our victories without a fight but he said help would always come in time. Just remember when you’re standing in the valley of decision and the adversary says give in. Just hold on, our Lord will show up and take you through the fire again.” Carver has been a member of Rothwell Baptist Church for over 25 years. He loves sports, music, and most of all, his family. His daughter, Hannah, and son, Thomas, both attend Calvary. Carver coaches High School volleyball, basketball and golf.

Kellie Clark

Kellie Clark holds a B.S. in elementary education from Valdosta State University. She is a member of Calvary Baptist Temple, and her favorite verse is Psalm 138:3: “As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength.” She loves spending time with her family, and can usually be found on a ball field cheering on her boys to their next win.

Sharon Coker

Sharon Coker has a B.S. in criminal justice and an M.Ed. in early childhood education from Armstrong Atlantic State University. Coker attends Southside Baptist Church, and her favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Coker’s greatest joy is working with children and sharing God’s love in the classroom. She enjoys seeing their immediate mental growth when new concepts are introduced. Outside of the classroom, Coker loves spending time with her husband and children, singing, scrapbooking, and reading.

Cami Cribbs

Cami Cribbs graduated from Calvary Day School in 1987 and Georgia Southern University in 1991, with a BS.Ed in Middle-Grade Education. Before joining the faculty of Calvary, Cami taught five years in the SCCPSS. Mrs. Cribbs attends Calvary Baptist Temple. Her favorite verse is Proverbs 3:6, “Remember the Lord in everything you do. And he will give you success.” Mrs. Cribbs is married to Mark and they are the proud parents of three children who attend Calvary. She feels blessed to teach at Calvary and be a part of Christian education. It brings great joy to watch children grow in their faith. Mrs. Cribbs enjoys watching her children participate in their school activities, boating, walking, and spending time with her family.

Laurie Gaylord

Laurie Gaylord earned her B.A. in early childhood education from Mercer University. She has attended church at Calvary Baptist Temple throughout her lifetime. One of Gaylord’s favorite verses is Joshua 1:9, “Be strong and courageous, do not be terrified, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Gaylord enjoys sharing the love of the Lord with her students. She loves spending time with her three sons. She stays busy with her sons sporting activities and the youth group at her church. Her favorite pastimes are reading and running outdoors.

Robyn Hernandez

Robyn Hernandez graduated from Armstrong Atlantic State University with a B.S. degree in early childhood education. Her teaching career started 28 years ago, and she has been blessed to have been able to teach at Calvary for 23 years. She has taught first grade for most of those 28 years. Hernandez is a member of White Bluff Methodist Church but occasionally visits Calvary Baptist Temple along with her husband of 28 years, Carlos. She and Carlos have a 25 year old daughter named Sara who proudly graduated from Calvary Day School seven years ago and Georgia College and State University three years ago. Hernandez has been blessed beyond measure with a great husband, a beautiful daughter, and a loving family. Her favorite verse comes from Jeremiah 29:11, ”’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”

Alice Huang

Alice Huang has a B.S. in automatic control from the Department of Electrical Technology at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in China. She attends Savannah Chinese Christian Church and lives by Psalm 103:12, “Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.” She enjoys teaching students and being a guiding light for them as they grow up.

Karen Jones

Karen Jones has a B.S. in business administration from Grace College in Indiana. She attends First Baptist Church of the Islands and lives by III John verse 4, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” She also enjoys going to church, spending time with her family, sewing, and quilting.

April Mattson

April Mattson holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Armstrong Atlantic State University. She has two children, Alex and Emma, and she loves serving the Lord at Calvary Day School. Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Mattson enjoys spending time with her family, photography, scrapbooking, baking, playing the piano and clarinet, and going on vacation.

Jennifer Nowell

Jennifer Nowell received her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Armstrong Atlantic State University. After graduation, she began teaching in the Effingham County Public School System. She is a native of Pooler, Georgia, but she has resided in Effingham County since marrying her husband, Trey. They have two girls, Abbegail and Isabel, who are students at Calvary. Nowell’s verse that she lives by is Jeremiah 29:11, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.’” She tries to instill this in her students’ lives everyday. She believes teaching is a calling from God, and when she was a little girl, God instilled this in her. He knew the plans He had for her life to be a teacher and to love students the way He loves them. She believes any student will learn and can learn when you show them the love of Christ. When Mrs. Nowell is not at school, she likes watching her girls play sports, vacationing with her family, and shopping.

Suzanne Poole

Suzanne Poole has a B.A. in early childhood education from Armstrong State College. Poole attends Calvary Baptist Temple, and her favorite verses are Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me,” and Jeremiah 29:11, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Poole wants her love for Christ to bring joy to her classroom. As a teacher, she is amazed by the Calvary Day School students’ quick retention rates.

Sherri Rachael

Sherri Rachael received her B.S. in Elementary Education from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1996.  She has taught Prek-6th grades in SC, TX, and AZ.  Sherri and her family moved to Georgia in 2007.   She attends the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.  A favorite verse is Psalm 91:4, “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”  When not at work Sherri enjoys watching her daughter, Savannah, dance and attending her son, Aidan’s, baseball games.

Donna Thaggard

Donna Thaggard completed her undergraduate degree in early childhood education at Georgia Southern University and completed her graduate degree in early childhood education at Armstrong Atlantic State University. Thaggard attends First Baptist Church of the Islands and lives by Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Her favorite activity is curling up with a great book. She enjoys experimenting with photography and has recently taken up geocaching.

Beth Thomas

Beth Thomas has been a Calvary fixture for her entire life. She attended Calvary Day School from grades 1-12 and has attended Calvary Baptist Temple since birth. Her favorite verses are Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.” She is married to Mitchell, and they have three sons who are Calvary graduates: Logan (2009), Ryan (2012), and Austin (2014). In her spare time she enjoys kayaking, spending time with her sons and husband, and coaching Calvary cross country.

Stephanie VanVleck

Stephanie VanVleck received her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Armstrong Atlantic State University. After earning her bachelor’s degree, Stephanie began working for the Savannah Chatham County Public School System where she spent five years teaching 2nd grade. Stephanie attends First Baptist Church of the Islands, and one of her favorite verses is Hebrews 6:19: “This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast…” In her spare time, Stephanie enjoy spending time with her husband, David, a Calvary alum, and their daughter Brooke. They enjoy going to the beach as a family.

Kim Zellner

Kim Zellner has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Armstrong State University and a M.Ed. in International Education from University of Bath, England.  Kim loves children and books, so the elementary library is a perfect place for her.  Kim enjoys spending time with her family, crafting, singing, and scrapbooking.  Kim attends Savannah Christian Church, where she leads a Bible study group for women.  Her favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.”
